An operation carried out at dawn by the anti-narcotics unit of the Regional Narcotics Brigade (BRS) of Thiès, which is part of the Central Office for the Suppression of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs (OCRTIS), resulted in the seizure of seven packages of Indian hemp, weighing a total of 196 kilograms. The intervention took place around 4:30 in the morning on the beach of Mballing, in the department of Mbour. Upon the arrival of the agents, the individuals who were handling the packages immediately took flight, abandoning the cargo at the scene. According to the initial information received, the traffickers could not be identified at the time of the intervention. An investigation was immediately opened by the competent authorities in order to identify the authors of this trafficking and to dismantle the network allegedly behind this attempt to introduce drugs. This seizure is in addition to the efforts deployed by the security forces in the framework of the fight against illicit trafficking in narcotics on the Senegalese coast. The beaches, often used as discrete landing points, are now under high surveillance. L’OCRTIS reaffirms its determination to pursue relentlessly the tracking of drug traffickers and to secure the coastal zones against criminal activities. With Exclusif.NET
