A wind of indignation has been blowing for a few days in the Senegalese sports world after a rare act of violence during an MMA gala in Côte d’Ivoire. The Senegalese wrestler Adiouma Diallo, better known as Zarco, stabbed his Nigerian opponent, Kabiru Adériran, whom he was supposed to face on Saturday 17 May 2025. Zarco who declared forfait à la dernière minute, has found nothing better to do than to stab his opponent. An ignoble and incomprehensible gesture which has provoked a vivid reaction among the public opinion and the sports authorities of the country. Faced with the gravity of the facts, the Ministre de la Jeunesse, des Sports et de la Culture (MJSC) reacted quickly, condemning with the greatest firmness the attitude of the wrestler de Grand Yoff. In an official communiqué, the ministry expressed its deep consternation: “These facts, widely reported in the media and on social networks, seriously damage the image of Senegalese sport and the reputation of Senegal on the international scene”.
