Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo state, has issued a warning to Peter Obi following his recent visit to the state.
Recall that Peter Obi’s recently visited Benin City, the state capital, on July 7, 2025, where he donated ₦15 million to the St. Philomena School of Nursing Sciences.
Okpebholo issued the warning while receiving Marcus Onobun, a former PDP lawmaker, into the APC, declaring that Obi’s security wouldn’t be guaranteed without clearance.
The governor requested that Peter Obi provide a public notice prior to visiting the state, citing concerns that his previous visit led to a crisis resulting in three fatalities.
“I’m sending a direct message to him. He cannot come to Edo without telling me because his security will never be guaranteed”, He stated.
Furthermore, Okpebholo criticized Peter Obi for his recent donation to the state, questioning where he obtained the substantial amount from.
Reacting to this, a user, Bro P Life remarked, “Even a man who cannot pronounce figures is talking to Obi”.
Another user, Spencer Anthony noted, “Can you imagine the country we have? So a citizen of Nigeria has no liberty to travel to any part of the country without informing the governor?”.
Anthonic Amaechi asserted,“That Edo governor na real mumu. If not for politics, who is he to stand or talk to Peter Obi?”.
