KaBokweni ā Another escapee from the Lydenburg Police Station in Mpumalanga, 31-year-old France Malatjie, has been rearrested.
He is the fourth of the six escaped awaiting trial prisoners to be rearrested.
The awaiting trial prisoners made a daring escape through a hole on Saturday, 29 November 2025.
However, police have rearrested four of the escapees who face various serious charges, including murder, rape, possession of an unlawful firearm and ammunition, and malicious damage to property.

Malatjie joins the list of rearrested suspects that includes 25-year-old Isaac Malope, 37-year-old Clayton Flank, and 38-year-old Fana Fenyane, who was nabbed in Sehlakwane, Limpopo.
Only two escapees, Sergio Mandoza and Francisco Vasco Maganja, remain on the run.
Commenting on the latest rearrest, Mpumalanga Police Spokesperson Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe, said: āThe fourth suspect who escaped from lawful custody has been re-arrested after receiving a tip-off.
āHe was arrested in the Kabokweni area.ā
Captain Nonyane-Mpe said the rearrested suspect, Malatjie, will face additional charges related to escaping from lawful custody when he appears in court.
