The Minister of Labour, Employment and Institutional Relations, Mr Abass Fall, accompanied by the Director-General of Labour and Social Security, Mr Karim Cissé, and the Director of Employment, Mr Babacar Sy, held a fruitful meeting with his Qatari counterpart, Mr Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, on Monday 20 January. According to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, this meeting was part of a plan to engage in in-depth discussions with a view to strengthening cooperation between the two nations, notably on the deployment of Senegalese workers in Qatar. The two Ministers also discussed the operationalization of the bilateral agreement signed in 2013 with the aim of intensifying collaboration and optimising the mechanisms already in place. The two Ministers explored concrete ways to improve the recruitment process and strengthen coordination between the parties, while ensuring respect for international standards relating to working conditions. The discussions focused on the legal aspects and on the rigorous monitoring and control of the conformity of these structures with the international standards in force. The two delegations expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the exchanges and commended each other on their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations. This meeting laid the foundations for a long-term and promising cooperation, paving the way for future joint projects which will be beneficial for both countries.
