Mubi market produces N29 billion each year and provides 29 million animals to Lagos, according to Fintiri.

The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has announced that the Mubi livestock market generates an annual income of N29 billion by supplying 29 million animals to Lagos State. He made this statement during a meeting with the Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, held in Yola. The governor emphasized that the Mubi livestock market is vital for the state’s economy and plays a key role in Nigeria’s livestock sector. “The Mubi livestock market is a significant economic center, benefiting not only Adamawa State but the whole country. It supplies 29 million animals to Lagos each year, generating N29 billion,” said Governor Fintiri. He called on the federal government to tackle issues faced by livestock traders, particularly roadblocks and extortion on major highways, which he claimed are detrimental to trade. “These hurdles, including the extortion of cattle traders on roads, must be eliminated to support and improve the sector’s economic impact,” he remarked. Governor Fintiri also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating the Ministry of Livestock Development and appointing Maiha as minister, expressing hope that this new ministry will rejuvenate the sector. “Establishing a Ministry of Livestock Development is a positive move.” Under Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha’s leadership, I am confident that the sector will achieve new levels of success,” he remarked. In reply, Minister Maiha praised Adamawa State’s initiatives to enhance the livestock industry, particularly the development of a northern international cattle market in Mubi. “Adamawa State is fortunate to have abundant animal resources and more than 33 grazing reserves.” The minister praised the governor’s plan to create a top-tier cattle market in Mubi, noting that it will make the state a leader in livestock commerce.
