Naira records first appreciation against dollar after days of decline 

The Naira on Friday recorded its first appreciation against the United States Dollar after its depreciation streak since December 2, 2025.

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s data showed that the Naira appreciated to N1,454.4123 per dollar on Friday, up from N1,456.0656 on Thursday.

This means that the Naira appreciated by N1.66 per dollar on a day-to-day basis at the official foreign exchange market. However, the naira has lost N9 in the last eleven days, according to CBN data.

Meanwhile, at the black market, the naira was flat at N1,490 per dollar on Friday, the same rate since Monday, according to multiple Bureau De Change operators in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.

This comes as the country’s foreign reserves increased to $45.44 billion as of 11 December 2025, up from $44.91 billion on December 2nd, according to the apex bank data.
