
The National Executive Committee, NEC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has resolved that the zoning arrangement of the party would serve as framework for the party’s upcoming national convention.
This was contained in a communique of the 107th meeting of the PDP’s National Executive Committee, NEC, held in Abuja on Monday.
During the meeting, members deliberated extensively on key issues affecting the party, its organizational strength, and its future electoral engagements.
The communique was signed by the Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, and the Secretary, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu.
At the end of deliberations, the NEC ratified the successful conduct of ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses nationwide, commending party leaders, electoral panels, stakeholders, and members for ensuring peaceful, transparent, and credible processes.
The committee also assessed the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise, expressing satisfaction with progress made so far.
It reiterated its commitment to building a reliable, technology-driven membership database and urged members across the country to participate actively.
On party structure, NEC affirmed the zoning arrangement for national elective offices, stating that it aligns with the PDP’s principles of fairness, inclusiveness, and balance.
The zoning formula, it said, will guide the forthcoming National Convention.
It reads partly: “NEC noted that the sale of nomination forms for the forthcoming National Convention has commenced. All interested aspirants are advised to comply with the approved guidelines and timelines as issued by the Party.
“The zoning arrangement shall serve as the guiding framework for the forthcoming National Convention.”

NEC further declared its readiness for the National Convention and directed relevant organs and committees to ensure smooth coordination for a credible and transparent exercise. The convention is themed “A Convention of Inclusiveness, Unity and Renewal.”
Reiterating the supremacy of the party, NEC called on members to remain united, disciplined, and focused on collective interests.
