National dialogue: The Republic of the values of the TAS announces a bad news

Le parti République des valeurs/Réewum Ngor, led by the député Thierno Alassane Sall, announced this Monday its refusal to participate in the national dialogue called by the government for 28 May next, estimating that “the conditions of a useful and sincere dialogue are not met”. In a communiqué sent to Seneweb, the political movement denounces a “political communication operation” orchestrated by the regime, the conclusions of which would be “already written”. The party accuses the executive of betraying the commitments made in the Pact of Good Democratic Governance, signed by several presidential candidates, including the current president. In the light of the recommendations of the Commission nationale de réforme des institutions (CNRI), the République des valeurs calls for concrete actions in favour of an independent judiciary, a strengthening of the opposition, fair elections and the end of hyper-presidentialism. It denounces, on the contrary, “the violation of freedoms, opaque decisions and institutional trickery”. While reaffirming its openness to “every sincere initiative” directed towards the economic and social priorities of the country, the political formation warns that it will not serve as a caution to what it describes as a “simulacrum of dialogue”. The Republic of Values, however, says it is ready to work for an ” authentic democracy ” and a ” Senegal turned towards progress “.
