One month after a shopkeeper in Surrey, British Columbia, was terribly set on fire, police are reviving their appeal for help in finding his reported attacker. Witnesses reported that user Rahat Rao entered a rear place with a guy they believed to be a customer at the SNS Currency Exchange on August 2, 2024. Less than a minute afterwards, Rao ran out and was engulfed in flames. Use of blankets to try to extinguish the flames by agitated spectators. A friend told Global News in June that he is still in the hospital after suffering third-degree fires to more than half of his body. WitnessPolice eventually identified the suspect as Kalid Yimer, 34, who was charged with attempted murder in June after a man was allegedly set on fire during a robbery in Surrey. Police said on Friday that they have not yet identified a motive for the attack but that they do no think it was motivated by any political or religious beliefs.
