This announcement follows the confirmation that left-back Lewis Hall will miss the rest of the season due to an ankle injury. Botman is expected to have surgery to address a knee problem. This is a significant setback for the Magpies, who are aiming for their first domestic trophy since they won the FA Cup in 1955 at Wembley later this month. Newcastle is currently facing a significant injury crisis, with right-back Kieran Trippier and central defender Jamaal Lascelles both sidelined. Consequently, their entire starting back four is unavailable. To complicate matters, starting left winger Anthony Gordon is also out due to a suspension; he received a red card for losing his composure during the 2-1 loss to Brighton over the weekend. Although there was talk of appealing the suspension, the club has opted not to pursue it, meaning Gordon will serve a three-match ban.
