NFF reacts to Troost-Ekong’s decison to retire before AFCON 

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has showered encomiums of Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, who has retired from international football.

Troost-Ekong made the announcement in a social media post on Thursday.

The NFF has described him as a “committed and humble leader”.

In a statement signed by its Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, the federation noted that it received the news of Troost-Ekong’s retirement with deep pride and gratitude for his decade of service to the country.

“Ekong gave everything to the Super Eagles,” Olajire said.

“He led with passion, calmness and responsibility, and he served Nigeria with outstanding patriotism.

“He was a model professional and a leader younger players should emulate.”
