
The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly and Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin Daji, has expressed sadness over the passing of the Kebbi State House of Assembly Speaker, Mohammed Usman Ankwai.
In a statement issued in Minna on Tuesday by the Acting Head of Department, Media and Public Relations, Ruqayyah M. Tanko, Sarkin Daji described the news of Ankwai’s death as both shocking and deeply saddening.
He hailed the late lawmaker as a “perfect gentleman,” a distinguished legislator, and a selfless leader whose contributions to legislative governance and the development of Kebbi State will be long remembered.
Sarkin Daji noted that Ankwai’s demise represents not only a loss to Kebbi State but also a significant setback to the entire legislative institution in Nigeria, given the late Speaker’s dedication, experience, and unwavering commitment to public service.
He extended condolences to the government and people of Kebbi State, the leadership and members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, and the immediate family of the deceased.
While praying for God’s forgiveness and eternal rest for the late Speaker, he encouraged the family to find solace in the impactful life and enduring legacy he left behind.
The Kebbi State House of Assembly Speaker passed away in the early hours of Tuesday following an undisclosed illness.
