No crisis in NBA Keffi branch – 100 financial members affirm stability

One hundred financial members of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Keffi Branch, have dismissed claims of a crisis within the association, insisting that the branch remains stable and properly administered.

The position follows a notice of requisition circulated by some members calling for the suspension of the executive committee led by Haruna Shuaibu Ilyasu and the establishment of an interim management committee over alleged irregularities surrounding the appointment of the Branch Electoral Committee, BEC.

In a letter addressed to the branch secretary, the group of financial members described the requisition notice as misleading and an attempt to tarnish the image of the association.

Signatories to the letter, including Sunday Ijiga, Suleiman Haliru, and Nwachukwu George, maintained that due process was followed in constituting the Branch Electoral Committee.

According to the letter, a general meeting of the branch was properly convened on February 16 and later reconvened on February 20, 2026, during which members deliberated and constituted the electoral committee in accordance with the NBA Uniform Bye-Laws governing branch activities.

The members further stated that the executive committee acted within the powers granted to it under the NBA constitution, stressing that the appointment of the Branch Electoral Committee complied with established legal and procedural guidelines.

They urged members of the public and the legal community to disregard claims suggesting internal instability, reaffirming their confidence in the leadership of the Ilyasu-led executive and its commitment to upholding the integrity of the Keffi Branch.
