
The Osun State Directorate of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, has called for intensified collaboration among stakeholders to combat Tuberculosis.
The appeal was contained in a statement issued by the agencyās Public Relations Officer, Bunmi Olaseinde, on behalf of the State Director, Adebiyi Adefarasin Stephen as part of activities marking the World Tuberculosis Day in Osogbo.
The agency stressed that Tuberculosis remained a major public health concern despite being both preventable and curable when properly managed.
It also reaffirmed that the fight against Tuberculosis can be won through united efforts in line with the year 2026 theme; āYes! We can end TB: Led by countries, powered by people.ā
According to Adefarasin, this yearās commemoration highlighted the urgency of strengthening awareness campaigns, promoting early diagnosis, and ensuring strict adherence to prescribed treatment.
He said, āThis yearās commemoration of World Tuberculosis Day underscores the urgent need for increased awareness, early detection, and strict adherence to treatment to eliminate TB in our communities.ā
The NOA advised residents across Osun State to prioritise their health by seeking prompt medical attention upon noticing symptoms such as persistent cough, fever, night sweats, or unexplained weight loss.
The agency urged community leaders, stakeholders, and media practitioners to scale up advocacy initiatives aimed at reducing stigma and supporting individuals affected by the disease.
Adefarasin noted that collective responsibility remains critical in tackling the spread of Tuberculosis, calling for sustained commitment from all sectors of society.
āTogether, through sustained awareness, collective action, and commitment, we can end TB and build a healthier society,ā he stated.
