Northerners will support Tinubu for a second term in 2027 – Yakasai

The Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, stated that people from the North will back President Bola Tinubu’s re-election effort in the 2027 general elections. Yakasai made this remark on Thursday in Akure during the launch of the Ondo State chapter of the Tinubu Support Group, where Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was named the group’s Grand Patron. He emphasized that the North has a moral responsibility to support President Tinubu due to his previous political alliance with the region. “As Asiwaju supported Buhari in 2017 and successfully did so again in 2023, it is a moral obligation for us in the North to show our appreciation,” he said. “We take pride in being morally aware, ethically correct, and backing his campaign for a second term,” Yakasai stated. He also disregarded criticisms of President Tinubu from certain northern personalities, labeling them as trivial. “The few who seem to oppose President Tinubu are primarily individuals implicated in corruption, fraud, or those who haven’t secured positions in the government.” “They make up a tiny portion of the voters,” he stated. Yakasai also mentioned that the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) acts as the central organization coordinating all pro-Tinubu initiatives across the country. “TSG has been and will continue as the hub for all groups dedicated to advocating for the Tinubu presidency and ensuring his re-election,” he remarked. Prince Ademola Adegoroye, the TSG Director-General in Ondo State, urged residents and political factions to support the Tinubu administration. Adegoroye, a former Minister of Transport, highlighted that Ondo State has benefited from numerous federal projects under President Tinubu’s leadership, including the Akure–Ado Road, Ore–Akure Road, Lagos–Calabar Superhighway, Ilesha–Benin Road via Owo and Ose LGAs, Ekiti–Akoko Road, FUTA Teaching Hospital, and the College of Aviation. He noted that these projects, combined with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s achievements, would provide a strong foundation for the 2027 campaign. In response, Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the group, calling its members the “movers and shakers of Ondo politics.” He stated that their involvement in TSG would help in garnering support for the President’s re-election and assured that Ondo State would significantly contribute to the continuity of the Tinubu administration.
