​NPFL: Enyimba Defends Its Reputation Against Ideye’s ‘Unfounded Accusations’    

 

The club has dismissed Ideye’s statements as a misrepresentation of the facts. Enyimba FC, Nigeria’s top football team, has vehemently condemned recent statements from ex-Super Eagles forward Brown Ideye, labeling them as a “clear misrepresentation of facts” and a deliberate effort to damage the reputation of both the club and the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), according to Completesports. In a stern statement released on Friday evening, the two-time CAF Champions League title holders and nine-time NPFL champions conveyed their significant discontent regarding Brown Ideye’s public comments. The statement also included references to Ideye training with his Enyimba teammates under Head Coach Stanley Eguma. “Currently, as the NPFL experiences a noteworthy transformation and is earning recognition both regionally and internationally, it is regrettable that a former Nigerian international, who was warmly received back home, has opted to criticize the very system that supported him,” the club remarked. Enyimba Reinstates Ideye’s Special Status. At the age of 36, Ideye made his return to Nigerian football in the 2024/2025 season after playing for various European clubs and Al-Yarmouk Sporting Club in Kuwait, prior to signing with Enyimba. His return was viewed as a meaningful ‘homecoming’, and it appears that the club provided him with special privileges.
