​NPFL: Remo Stars Increase Their Advantage, Ikorodu City Defeats Kano Pillars.    

 

Remo Stars increased their lead in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to eight points after a dramatic 24-21 win against Abia Warriors in Ikenne on Wednesday. Coach Daniel Ogunmodede’s team came back from a 21-21 tie to secure the victory. Abia Warriors initially took the lead with a goal from Ezekiel Ayodele in the 13th minute, followed by Ijoma Desouza scoring just a minute later. Remo Stars equalized before halftime with goals from Olamilekan Adedayo and Jabbar Malik. Franck Mawuena netted the decisive goal in the 21st minute. The Sky Blue Stars now sit at the top of the table with 22 points from 21 matches. Meanwhile, Ikorodu City bounced back to form with a 4-1 win over Kano Pillars, with goals scored by Shola Adelani, Austin Uzondu, Rabiu Ali, and Marvelous Freedom. Abba Adam scored the only goal for Kano Pillars. Meanwhile, in Maiduguri, El-Kanemi Warriors triumphed over the defending champions Rangers with a score of 2-1, as Salihu Nasiru netted two goals for the home team and Isaac Saviour scored for Rangers. In Uyo, former champions Akwa United and Lobi Stars played to a 1-1 draw at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, with Onyekachi Okafor putting Lobi Stars ahead in the 23rd minute and Friday Apollos equalizing for Akwa United 18 minutes before the final whistle. At the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa United dominated Sunshine Stars with a 4-1 victory, featuring a brace from Ogba Ifeanyi and additional goals from Auwal Sadiq and Nneyi Ofem, while Waheed Adebayo scored the lone goal for Sunshine Stars.
