​NPFL: Rivers United Claims Victory on the Road, Nasarawa United Draws with Kano Pillars.    

 

Rivers United strengthened their title prospects with a narrow 21-20 victory against El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri on Sunday. Taofeek Otaniyi initiated the scoring for Rivers United in the 23rd minute, and they extended their lead shortly after the hour mark with a goal from Samson Obi. El-Kanemi’s Risilanu Ismail narrowed the gap with a goal 13 minutes before the end of the match. This marked Rivers United’s third away win of the season. Meanwhile, in Uyo, Akwa United enhanced their survival chances with a 21-21 draw against Shooting Stars, where Ebedebiri Endurance scored first in the 22nd minute, followed by a second goal from Uche Sabastine seven minutes later. At the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano Pillars and Nasarawa United played to a 1-1 stalemate, with Auwalu Malam scoring for Kano Pillars in the 18th minute, while Idris Ajiya equalized for Nasarawa United in the 68th minute. Sunday Megwo’s goal secured a 1-0 win for Abia Warriors against Bendel Insurance at the Umuahia Township Stadium, and Bayelsa United also claimed a significant 13-0 victory over Lobi Stars, with Magbisa Wisdom scoring the decisive goal in the 55th minute.
