NSCDC deploys over 2,000 personnel to secure Edo ahead of EasterĀ

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Edo Command, has mobilized more than 2,000 officers across the state to guarantee a secure and peaceful Easter celebration.

This was disclosed on Thursday in Benin by the Edo State Commandant, Mr Saidi Akintayo, while speaking with journalists.

He explained that the deployment is part of proactive measures to ensure public safety before, during, and after the festive period.

According to Akintayo, personnel from specialized units of the corps have been strategically positioned across Edo’s three senatorial districts.

Key public spaces, including markets, highways, recreational centres, and places of worship, will be closely monitored to deter criminal activities and protect lives and property.

ā€œThe deployment is designed to provide a safe, orderly, and trouble-free Easter celebration for all residents, particularly the Christian faithful,ā€ Akintayo said.

He added that the NSCDC would collaborate closely with other security agencies to maintain comprehensive coverage and ensure rapid response to emergencies.

Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been instructed to intensify patrols, enhance intelligence gathering, and sustain proactive security operations in their jurisdictions.

While congratulating Christians on completing the Lenten season, the commandant urged residents to celebrate responsibly and in compliance with the law.

He also issued a stern warning to individuals with criminal intent to refrain from entering the state, emphasizing that the corps is fully prepared to confront any threats to public safety.

Akintayo reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and ensuring the well-being of residents throughout the Easter festivities.
