Team Ogun achieved a remarkable milestone at the 2024 National Sports Festival (NSF) by finishing in a historic second place on the medals table, marking the state’s best-ever performance in the Festival’s history. The host state amazed everyone by exceeding expectations, collecting a total of 93 Gold, 65 Silver, and 80 Bronze medals. Bayelsa State fell to third place with 92 Gold, 65 Silver, and 71 Bronze medals. Defending champions Delta State maintained their superiority, securing the top position with an impressive haul of 126 Gold, 100 Silver, and 111 Bronze medals. Governor Dapo Abiodun, who has significantly invested in sports facilities in preparation for the festival, praised the athletes for their determination. “This is a moment of pride for Ogun State.” “Our athletes have demonstrated that with resolve and backing, we can hold our own against Nigeria’s finest,” he stated at the closing ceremony.
