NWFL: Ekiti Queens banished to Abeokuta, fined N2.5m

The Nigeria Women’s Football League, NWFL, has ordered Ekiti Queens to play their home matches in Abeokuta and fined the club N2.5 million for assaulting match officials during Wednesday’s home clash with Edo Queens, DAILY POST reports.

Ekiti Queens lost the Matchday Three encounter 1-0, with Atume Doosuur scoring the decisive goal for Edo Queens in the 67th minute.

The NWFL described the incident as a serious breach of league safety and conduct regulations.

As part of their punishment, Ekiti Queens will play their next three home games at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.

The NWFL emphasised that the penalties are intended to serve as a deterrent to all clubs across the league.

Ekiti Queens are yet to record a win in the NWFL this season, having drawn once and lost twice.
