Obasanjo played vital role in development of democracy in Nigeria, Africa – Tambuwal 

Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has said former President Olusegun Obasanjo played a vital role in the development of democracy in Nigeria and Africa.

Tambuwal said Obasanjo’s enduring commitment to democratic ideals and nation building remains a reference point for generations.

He made the remark while expressing deep appreciation to Obasanjo for attending and chairing his 60th birthday colloquium.

Tambuwal said Obasanjo, as an elder statesman, continues to serve as a reference point for commitment to democratic ideals and nation-building for successive generations.

Posting on X, Tambuwal wrote: “I must express my profound gratitude to the former President, His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, for not only gracing my 60th birthday colloquium with his presence, but also for graciously serving as the Chairman of the occasion.

“President Obasanjo’s role in the development and strengthening of democracy in Nigeria and across Africa cannot be overemphasised.

“As an elder statesman, his enduring commitment to democratic ideals and nation building remains a reference point for generations.

“I sincerely appreciate him as well for his kind words and goodwill. AWT”
