Ogun: Driver arrested for allegedly murdering former employer and trying to sell the stolen car.

Police operatives from the Ogun State Command have taken into custody Ayomide Oluwadamilare for allegedly murdering his former boss, Kola Adun, and trying to sell his car in Akute, located in the Ifo Local Government Area. The 25-year-old suspect had previously worked as a driver for the victim. Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest to DAILY POST on Tuesday, explaining that the suspect fatally stabbed Adun during an attempted robbery and then fled with his Toyota Camry, which has the registration number LAGOS AAA 193 GC. The spokesperson mentioned that the suspect was caught while trying to sell the stolen car to a dealer in Ijede, Ikorodu. She also stated that officers responded to a distress call on Monday about a bad smell coming from the victim’s home, where they discovered Adun’s body on the floor with noticeable stab wounds. The Divisional Police Officer at Ojodu Abiodun Division received an emergency call from the Mubarak area in Akute about a strange smell coming from a home. Officers quickly arrived at Ogunmoyero Street in River Valley Estate, where they gained access to the property and discovered the dead body of Mr. Adun on the first floor, showing apparent stab wounds. Bloodstains were found at the location, and his Toyota Camry was also at the scene. LAGOS AAA 193 GC was unaccounted for. Concerns arose on the morning of July 6, when a friend of the deceased arrived to take him to church and found the gate locked from the outside. Attempts to contact the victim were unsuccessful, and eventually the phone was turned off. He informed his family and notified the Ojodu Abiodun Police Station about the incident. Initial inquiries revealed that his previous driver, 25-year-old Ayomide Oluwadamilare, illegally accessed the home on Saturday, July 5, 2025, with the aim of committing theft. He fatally stabbed Mr. Adun and then escaped with the victim’s car. The individual was caught trying to sell the stolen car to a dealership in Ijede, Ikorodu. The dealer, who was wary of the suspect, alerted the police, resulting in the suspect’s quick arrest at the sales location. A police spokesperson stated that the body was taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu for an autopsy, and the case will be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for a thorough investigation and legal action.
