Ondo Govt moves against kidnappersĀ

The Ondo State Government has directed security agencies to step up operations against kidnapping syndicates operating in parts of the state.

This was contained in a statement posted on the official page of the Ondo State Government and signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku.

According to the statement, the government expressed concern over recent kidnapping incidents, noting that investigations revealed some of the criminal acts were orchestrated by locals in affected areas.

The government stated that attempts by criminal elements to portray Ondo State as unsafe would not be tolerated, warning that such actions would attract firm and lawful response.

It further directed all security agencies to intensify surveillance across affected areas and immediately clamp down on individuals or groups linked to the crimes.

Security operatives have also been mandated to ensure that suspects are apprehended, investigated and prosecuted in line with the law.

The statement added that the state has continued to invest in strengthening its security structure.

These efforts include the provision of operational vehicles and logistics support to security agencies, the construction of a Crime Control Centre for the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, and the recent recruitment of 500 personnel to enhance intelligence gathering and rapid response across the state.

Traditional rulers were urged to remain vigilant and monitor activities within their domains, while residents were encouraged to promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies.

ā€œThe protection of lives and property remains the foremost priority of the Ondo State Government, and no individual or group will be allowed to undermine the peace, security and stability of the state,ā€ the statement read.
