One dead as rival cult groups clash in Kwara marketĀ 

A middle-aged man was reportedly killed on Friday during a confrontation between suspected rival cult groups at Oja-Oba Market in Ilorin, Kwara State’s capital.

The state Police Command confirmed the incident, noting that the victim’s body was removed from the scene by officers in a Hilux pickup vehicle.

The violent encounter sparked panic in the area, forcing motorists and pedestrians to divert from Emir Road, Ita-Ajia, and the Gambari axis to avoid the chaos.

Traders quickly closed their stalls and sought refuge in safer locations as the situation unfolded.

Security personnel stationed in the market responded promptly, pursuing several suspects.

One individual, dressed in a white traditional attire, was apprehended and taken into custody at the ā€œCā€ Division Police Station, Oja-Oba.

Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, confirmed the clash and the arrest, adding that investigations into the incident are ongoing to bring all responsible parties to justice.
