The Gendarmerie Nationale has conducted, over the past weekend, security operations in several regions of the country, resulting in the arrest of several individuals, the seizure of tens of kilograms of hemp and the dismantling of an illegal gold mining site. These actions took place in Dakar, Saint-Louis, Tambacounda and Thiès between 31 February and 2 March 2025. In addition, 148 vehicles out of 18 066 were immobilized, as well as 34 motorcycles out of 2 311 controlled. The Gendarmerie also took control of three solar panels, an electric generator and four motor pumps. These operations, which are aimed at strengthening security and cleaning up sensitive areas, are part of the strategy of the Haut-commandement de la Gendarmerie, determined to combat crime and reduce its progression in its areas of competence, notably in Dakar, Saint-Louis, Tambacounda and Thiès.
