Otti approves land for Air Force training base in Abia 

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has approved 100 hectares of land within the Abia Airport Project site for the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, to build its training base in Abia State.

The approved was in response to NAF’s earlier request for expansion of the 50 hectares of land already earmarked for the project.

Governor Otti gave the approval on Tuesday while receiving a delegation of the Nigeria Air Force Ground Training Command.

He thanked the Air Force for the approval to set up a base in Abia State.

The Governor assured the Air Force delegation led by Air Vice Marshal Adebayo Kehinde that the Abia Airport runway which is being constructed by the Federal government and the Abia State government, would soon be ready.

“You can take it for granted that you have at least 100 hectares of land in that place,” Otti assured.

The Governor further assured that his government would put the contractor handling the renovation project of the Air Force office in Abia State under pressure, to deliver it before the end of April to enable the Chief of Air Staff to come and take delivery of the office.

He urged the Commander to continue to support Abia government in the fight against criminality in the State, while assuring the Commander that Certificate of Occupancy for the land would be ready within thirty days.

Speaking earlier, the Air Officer Commanding AOC, Ground Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Adebayo Kehinde noted that Eastern Security sanity was impressive, adding that Abia State was well ahead of other Southeast States in security.
