Ousmane Sonko insists on the importance of the plan of economic and social recovery during his Téra Meeting at the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor

Ousmane Sonko at the meeting of 8 November 2025. Dakar, The Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko held, this Saturday, a grand terra meeting at the parking of the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor. In front of an enthusiastic crowd, the Head of Government reiterated the importance of the economic and social recovery plan put in place by his government, a programme which he presents as a necessary step to revive the national economy in a lasting way. “The plan of economic and social recovery is not directed against the people, but it represents a collective sacrifice that we demand from the Senegalese over a period of two to three years”, said Ousmane Sonko. According to him, this approach aims to repair the consequences of “financial malversations, embezzlements and hidden debts” accumulated over the years. The Prime Minister also detailed certain measures contained in the plan, notably the establishment of a central public procurement office to regroup and rationalise all State orders. This system should contribute to a better management of public resources. The overall objective, according to him, is to mobilise nearly CFAF 6 000 billion through new taxes targeted at non-vital products and services, such as money transfers, tobacco and alcohol.
