Suspected burglars have reportedly broken into a phone charging outlet in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State, carting away more than 40 mobile phones.
The incident occurred at the shop of Muhammad Mai Caji situated along the road to Unguwar Duta’era. The break-in was said to have taken place while the shop owner had gone to the mosque to observe the Isha prayer.
Sources said the stolen devices belonged to customers who had left their phones at the shop for charging. The development has left both the shop owner and the affected customers counting their losses. The suspects were also reported to have stolen cash proceeds from the shop’s Point of Sale (POS) operations.
The shop owner confirmed that the matter has been reported to the police, noting that steps are being taken to contact customers whose phones were stolen.
Meanwhile, residents of the area have urged security agencies to strengthen night patrols to curb rising cases of burglary in the community.
