Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has said that humility and service are essential attributes of a good leader.
The governor stated this on Sunday during the Palm Sunday service, after he led the faithful in a solemn procession at the Light House Chaplaincy in the Government House, Awka.
Soludo said the life of Jesus Christ was marked by humility and service to the people, and that those were the attributes needed to take Anambra to greater heights.
He said: “There is need to emphasize the spiritual significance of the day. This is a powerful start to Passion Sunday.
“Humility and service exemplified by the life of Christ are essential for the progress of Anambra State.
“Palm Sunday reminds us that leadership is a call to selfless service and sacrifice. As we enter this Holy Week, we remain committed to building a liveable and prosperous homeland under the guidance of the Almighty.”
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Raphael Onyekwelu urged the congregation to emulate the humility of Christ, reminding leaders and citizens alike of the importance of integrity and peace.
The mass also had in attendance the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim and some top government officials. The ceremony began with the traditional blessing of palm fronds, symbolizing the “triumphant entry” of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
