Cole Palmer has shared his frustration after Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Fulham at Stamford Bridge during the Premier League Boxing Day match. Palmer celebrated his 50th top-flight start with an impressive goal, but it ultimately went unrewarded as Fulham battled back to secure their first win at Stamford Bridge since 1979. Late goals from Harry Wilson and Rodrigo Muniz shocked the home team, marking Fulham’s first goals at Chelsea’s ground in seven tries. This victory was also Fulham’s third ever win at Stamford Bridge, with previous wins in 1964 and 1979. Chelsea could be overtaken by Arsenal for second place if the Gunners defeat Ipswich at the Emirates on Friday night. Palmer articulated his disappointment in an interview with Amazon Prime after the game, highlighting that poor results against Fulham are why many critics believe Chelsea cannot win the league. “Yeah [it stings].” We were in the lead for most of the game, but losing at the end is tough. “In the first half, we performed well, controlled the match, and created several opportunities.” In the second half, we lost some control. “They’re a strong transition team that prefers to play directly, and we fell into their style of play, which cost us.” We understood that we wouldn’t win every match. This is the manager’s inaugural season with our team. We’re discovering that everyone has been saying from the beginning that we aren’t in the running for the title. We are improving as a team and developing. Do you have what it requires?
