Panic as teenager falls into open Gari dam 

A 15-year-old boy, Yusuf Danliti, has been rescued after falling into an open body of water at Gari Dam in Gari Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the service “received a distress call at about 12:00 pm from Usman Garba, reporting an incident at Gari Dam” on Saturday, 13 December 2025.

The statement said firefighters from the Gari Fire Station “responded promptly to the call” and, upon arrival, “discovered a 15-year-old boy who had fallen into an open water.

“The victim was rescued unconscious and subsequently handed over to the Village Head of the area, Lawan Zangina, for further action,” the Service said.

Speaking further, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, advised parents and guardians “to be vigilant and closely monitor their children,” especially to discourage “local swimming in open water,” which he noted “has continued to result in loss of lives.”

The Kano State Fire Service reaffirmed that it “remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state.”
