Panic as teenager falls into open Gari damĀ 

A 15-year-old boy, Yusuf Danliti, has been rescued after falling into an open body of water at Gari Dam in Gari Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer of theĀ Kano State Fire Service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the service ā€œreceived a distress call at about 12:00 pm from Usman Garba, reporting an incident at Gari Damā€ on Saturday, 13 December 2025.

The statement said firefighters from the Gari Fire Station ā€œresponded promptly to the callā€ and, upon arrival, ā€œdiscovered a 15-year-old boy who had fallen into an open water.

ā€œThe victim was rescued unconscious and subsequently handed over to the Village Head of the area, Lawan Zangina, for further action,ā€ the Service said.

Speaking further, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, advised parents and guardians ā€œto be vigilant and closely monitor their children,ā€ especially to discourage ā€œlocal swimming in open water,ā€ which he noted ā€œhas continued to result in loss of lives.ā€

The Kano State Fire Service reaffirmed that it ā€œremains committed to protecting lives and property across the state.ā€
