Past recadre: ” Diomaye Faye does not have the power to release Aïda Mbodj ” (Communication)

Le parti PASTEF Les Patriotes welcomed, in a communiqué made public on Tuesday, the will of President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye to proceed to a restructuring of the political coalition “Diomaye Président”, estimating that this initiative aims to “build a stronger coalition, in the service of the positive popularization of the action of the Government “. However, the party led by Ousmane Sonko was obliged to provide several precisions concerning this process. According to the communiqué, the project of restructuring the coalition had already been engaged following the presidential election of March 2024, under the leadership of the Conference of Leaders, chaired by Madame Aïssatou Mbodj. The party also stresses that Bassirou Diomaye Faye has never been president of the coalition, but only his candidate during the presidential election. “He therefore does not have the power to dismiss Madame Aïssatou Mbodj”, reads the communiqué, specifying that the latter had been designated by the Conference of Leaders to ensure the presidency of the coalition. Furthermore, PASTEF declares not to recognise itself in any initiative coordinated by Madame Aminata Touré, considering that “no common ground exists on the values and principles” between the two parties. The party finally informs that it is pursuing its own political agenda, focused on the fusion with allied organizations, the enlargement of its militant base, as well as the completion of the APTE coalition, under the presidency of Madame Aïssatou Mbodj.
