PDP assures congress will begin soon

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has assured that the party’s congress will commence shortly, as it advances its preparations for the 2027 elections.

Abdulrahman Mohammed, Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC), addressed the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, following court rulings on the party’s leadership dispute.

He stated that the NCWC has already conducted ward and local government congresses and is set to hold state congresses in the near future.
The party also inspected the National Stadium as a potential venue for the National Convention.

According to Mohammed: “However, as we proceed with the preparations towards our National Convention, we shall wait for the Certified True Copy of the judgments by the Court of Appeal to prepare ourselves for further defence at the Supreme Court, if the need arises.

“I want to call on all party stakeholders, leaders and members to unite ourselves for the betterment of our great party. Enough of litigations that will delay our activities towards the 2027 general elections and off-season elections.

“BoT remains the conscience of the party, and we shall continue to work together to deliver on the mandate given to us.”

Mohammed lauded PDP’s recent legal successes, including the Court of Appeal ruling in the party’s favour on nine appeals.
“We are the only legitimate body that can present candidates for the 2027 general elections. I urge everyone to rally around us,” he said.

He emphasised the need for unity, stating, “Enough of litigations that will delay our activities toward the 2027 elections. Let’s unite for the betterment of our great party.”
