A member, Caretaker Committee of the Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Okey Osuoha, has said that the Committee is legitimate.
Speaking at an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ on Monday, Osuoha said there cannot be vacuum in the PDP.
This is coming as legal battle deepens in the PDP, after the Appeal Court in Abuja on Monday dismissed the appeal brought before it by the Taminu Turaki-led faction of the party.
The Court also upheld the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja which on October 31, 2025, restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from recognizing the outcome of the 2025 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Airing his own opinion, Osuoha said:
“In a case where an NWC executive’s tenure expires, and a legitimate convention has not been conducted yet, who will man the affairs of the party?
“A political party has structures and organs, starting from the Ward level. That is why it is a party. Politics is all about grassroot, so you have the Ward level, Local Government executive, state executive and national executive.
“You must do the congresses, the congresses of the Ward, the Local Government, the State, and produce executives who are going to turn out to be delegates that will come and vote in a national convention.”
