The tertiary education for people with disabilities ( PWDs ) will now be free, according to President John Dramani Mahama’s announcement.
President Mahama stated during his first State of the Nations Address ( SONA ) of his second term in office that all people with disabilities in the country can now access tertiary education without having to pay any tuition.
He made the announcement as part of his Level 100 student policy’s completely tertiary education. While all students will receive free admission to their first year of college, those who have disabilities will be able to participate in the program for the entire four times.
Mahama said,” I want to reiterate our commitment to ensuring that people with disabilities have access to free primary education and similar opportunities to pursue their academic and professional interests.”
The President also stated that he has no plans to change the legislation, contrary to the minority’s claims, which have been made since 2016 and had made him a threat to the Free SHS system. Maha stated that he would prefer to improve the deployment plans to improve it. He promised to switch to a second track system instead of the twin track system. The President stated that the construction of new college properties will be accelerated in order to accomplish that goal.
