Petrole Sangomar: a record production in the service of energy sovereignty

The Sangomar oil field continues its rise in power with robust production and strategic advances in local supply. The total crude oil production of the Sangomar field for the month of February 2025 amounted to 2,1003 million barrels. During this period, three shipments – SAN021, SAN022 and SAN023 – representing a total volume of 2,59 million barrels were shipped and marketed on the national and international markets, confirming the good dynamics of the exploitation of the deposit. PETROSEN Trading & Services carried out the removal of the cargo SAN021 to supply the Société Africaine de Raffinage (SAR), with a volume of 647 426 barrels. This initiative marks an essential milestone in the local hydrocarbon recovery strategy and reflects Senegal’s ambition to strengthen its energy independence while maximising the economic benefits for the country. This operational stability is a strong indicator of the maturity of the Sangomar project and its strategic contribution to the national energy sector. The development of the Sangomar field represents a unique opportunity for Senegal to consolidate its energy sovereignty and optimise the impact of the oil sector on the national economy. The exploitation of local resources and the active participation of national actors testify to a strong will to inscribe this exploitation in a dynamic of sustainable and inclusive growth.
