Plateau govt commissions 1,450 Operation Rainbow operatives to boost security

Governor Caleb Mutfwang on Tuesday commissioned 1,450 operatives of the Plateau State-owned security outfit, Operation Rainbow.

The graduands had undergone eight weeks of intensive training.

Addressing the operatives, at a passing-out parade at the New Jos Stadium, Mutfwang said, “I address you today at this historic passing out parade of 1,450 operatives of Operation Rainbow, our state-owned security outfit.

“This occasion marks a significant milestone, not only in the lives of these gallant men and women, carefully selected across all faiths and ethnic groups in the state, but also in our collective resolve to build a safer, more peaceful Plateau State.”

He added, “today, we celebrate not just the successful completion of this rigorous training program, but the birth of a renewed commitment to service, courage, discipline, and sacrifice. You have answered a noble call, the call to protect lives and property, preserve peace, and safeguard the future of our communities.”

Mutfwang emphasised that security is the bedrock of sustainable development, saying, “Without peace, there can be no meaningful progress, no investment, no prosperity, and no enduring unity. This is why peace and security constitute the cardinal policy trust of my administration.”

He assured that Operation Rainbow is an all-inclusive security outfit, stating, “Let me be clear at this juncture that Operation Rainbow was conceived primarily to protect all citizens, irrespective of their faith, ethnic groups, or regional backgrounds.

“It is not meant to witch-hunt anybody; rather, it is an all-inclusive security outfit that involves and protects people of all faiths, tribes working together to advance peace, unity, and safety of all.

The governor also pledged his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the operatives, saying, “We shall continue to provide the necessary logistics, continuous training, and improved welfare packages to enable you to perform your duties effectively and with confidence.”

Mutfwang urged the operatives to be worthy ambassadors of their communities and role models to the youth, saying, “As you pass out today, remember that the uniform you wear symbolizes hope, safety, trust, and responsibility.”
