Police arrest suspected criminal, recover pistol in LagosĀ 

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspected criminal, Dare Shogaolu, popularly known as ā€œSuper M,ā€ during a stop-and-search operation in the Mushin area of the state.

The suspect, a 30-year-old male, was apprehended by operatives of the Anti-Crime Patrol Team from the Mushin Division while carrying a bag that contained a locally fabricated pistol.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, the arrest took place at about 10:00 p.m. on March 5, 2026, along the LUTH Road axis of Mushin during a routine patrol by officers led by the Divisional Police Officer.

The police said the patrol team intercepted Shogaolu after he was spotted behaving suspiciously while holding a white and orange-yellow polythene bag.

A search conducted by the officers reportedly led to the discovery of one locally made pistol concealed inside the bag.

Other items recovered from the suspect include a black leather purse, some charms and three pairs of slippers.

Preliminary investigations by the police indicated that the suspect may have been involved in several criminal activities within the Mushin area and was allegedly linked to disturbances reported in the community.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue, while efforts are underway to track down other suspected members of his criminal group.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining security and protecting residents across the state.
