Police confirm that the Enugu government account was not hacked.

The Nigeria Police Force has stated that the Enugu State Government’s account was not hacked, contrary to claims circulating on social media. The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made this announcement in a statement on Friday in Abuja. “The Nigeria Police Force rejects the unfounded claim of an alleged hack of the Enugu State Government’s official account, which supposedly resulted in the theft of N1.09 billion. This claim is completely baseless, as the matter was investigated by the NPF National Cyber Crime Centre (NCCC). It was a case of procurement fraud, not a cyber breach; a suspect has been arrested, and the funds recovered,” he said. Adejobi noted that the Enugu State Government, along with other government Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and corporate entities, collaborated with the NPF-NCCC during the investigation. He also mentioned that this partnership had implemented robust security measures to protect the state’s financial systems. He urged the public to avoid spreading misinformation and to verify the reliability of news sources.
