Police decorate 456 promoted officers in Benue, task them on professionalism 

No fewer than 456 police officers in Benue State have been formally decorated following their recent promotion in a ceremony held at the command headquarters in Makurdi.

The colourful event attracted top-ranking officers, family members and well-wishers who turned out to celebrate what many described as a defining moment in the careers of the beneficiaries.

The Benue State Police Command said the promotion was part of a nationwide exercise approved by the Police Service Commission and recommended by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Addressing the newly promoted officers, the Commissioner of Police urged them to see their elevation as a call to greater responsibility and higher standards of conduct.

According to him, promotion in the Force comes with increased expectations in professionalism, operational efficiency, discipline and respect for human rights.

He further charged them to strengthen community engagement and redouble their efforts in ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

The Command reaffirmed its resolve to enhance morale and professionalism within the Force, noting that the decoration ceremony symbolises recognition of diligence, loyalty and commitment to service.
