Andrew Ogunsakin, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government Area in Ondo State, has regained his freedom after spending 24 hours in police detention at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Ogunsakin was reportedly detained by the Police Monitoring Unit when he responded to an invitation from the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
He faced allegations of criminal trespass and threat to life levelled against him by Dr. Anthony Aduro, the CEO of Aduro Farms in Okitipupa, Ondo State.
Aduro had petitioned the IGP through his lawyer, Barrister Collins of Brikani Associates, claiming that the chairman invaded and trespassed on his property in Okitipupa.
Prior to his detention, Ogunsakin had requested an extension of time to respond to the allegations, citing official engagements.
This request was communicated through the Director of Legal Services of Okitipupa Local Government, Yemi Egbodofo, in a letter dated October 29, 2025.
The case, referenced as “CR 3000/IGP/SEC/MU/T6/ABJ/VOL, Investigation Activities,” was overseen by CSP Muhammed Abdulkareem.
Ogunsakin was reportedly interrogated extensively during the investigation and was subsequently released after meeting his bail conditions.
