Police nab 26-year-old suspected armed robber in Oyo 

Operatives of the Igboho division of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested a 26-year-old suspect identified as Buba Sidi, over the robbery and violent attack of a resident in Ibudo Iya Ibeji, Oke Eshin area of the state.

DAILY POST learnt that the suspect alongside two others macheted the victim, Isiaka Oladosu on the head and dispossessed him of ₦860,000.

Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, on Sunday, said the command was alerted by a vigilant member of the public.

Olayinka noted that upon the information, officers swiftly arrived the scene and the victim was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention, while the scene of the crime was forensically swept for evidence, to establish links to the suspect and support ongoing investigations.

He said, “Information received from a vigilant member of the public revealed that three men armed with cutlasses and sticks were seen emerging from the bush at Ibudo Iya Ibeji, Oke Eshin, Igboho via Igbope, where they attacked a resident, Isiaka Oladosu.

“The assailants inflicted a deep machete cut on his head and dispossessed him of cash amounting to Eight Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira (N860,000).

“During the operation, one suspect, identified as Buba Sidi, male, aged 26, was apprehended and has confessed to the crime. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other fleeing suspects involved in the attack.”

The command, however, reassured members of the public of its unwavering resolve to protect lives and property, and to rid the state of violent crimes.

They urged the public to continue sharing timely and credible information with the police, maintaining that sustained community partnership remains essential to ensuring safety and security.
