Kebbi State Police Command has neutralised a suspected member of the Lakurawa terrorist group and foiled an attempt to rustle 33 cows along the Kamba–Kangiwa road in Dandi Local Government Area.
The armed bandits reportedly attacked a farmhouse in the area and made away with the livestock before they were confronted by a joint security team comprising police operatives and personnel from the Army’s Forward Operating Base, FOB, in Kamba.
The swift response forced the attackers to abandon the stolen cattle and flee.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed that one of the bandits was killed during the operation, while another escaped with gunshot wounds.
He added that all 33 rustled cows were successfully recovered and returned to their rightful owner.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects,” the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Hadejia, commended the operatives for their prompt response and effective collaboration in repelling the attack.
He assured residents that the command would intensify patrols across vulnerable communities to curb banditry and ensure the safety of lives and property in Kebbi State.
