The press conference organized by the Citizen Initiative Justice for our Martyrs, a grouping of victims of recent political violence who demand justice, ended in a fish queue. Indeed, an ex-detainee named Pape Ousmane Seck claiming to be a member of “force spéciale” who demanded to speak on behalf of this group, caused trouble when his request was rejected by his comrades in combat. Visibly very upset by the presence of Guy Marius Sagna in the conference room, Seck called into question the legitimacy of the organisers, calling them “politicians in disguise”. This situation eclipsed the initial objective of the meeting, which was to inform the public about the steps taken to obtain justice for the victims and to prepare the national march planned for Saturday, 30 August.
