The Mighty Falcons FC soared to a 5-1 victory over the Metro Stars, with coach Manqoba Mabuza praising his team’s second-half turnaround and growing confidence.

The Mighty Falcons FC secured a commanding 5-1 win against the Metro Stars in a recent Springs Super League match.

The intense and defensive game saw both sides show determination and resilience. Metro Stars goalkeeper Njabulo Cekwane said the first half was promising.

“We had moments where we could have punished them, but unfortunately, the boys didn’t fully execute the plan,” he said.

“The second half started better, but the pace picked up, and the opposition managed the game better than we did. Their midfielders caught us off guard during possession, and that caused problems.”

Teams battle for first position.

Cekwane added that while they tried to adapt in the second half, the Falcons compressed the field, disrupting their rhythm.

“We made adjustments and substitutions, but the timing wasn’t ideal, which affected our impact. “It’s not just about communication; our biggest challenge is how we play as a team,” he said.

He noted that rotating players over the past four to five weeks had affected their consistency.

“We’re a young, evolving team. I’m the most experienced at 24, and most of the squad is under 21. But there’s real potential here. With time and experience, we’ll improve.”

Falcons coach Manqoba Mabuza was thrilled with the result.

Each team is determined to win the game.

“I’m happy we won,” he said. “In the first half, we rushed and made unnecessary mistakes. The boys got nervous on the ball and didn’t pass effectively.”

Mabuza said the team improved significantly after the break.

“I told them to play freely. If we lose, we lose as a team,” he said. “If we’d started better, we could’ve scored even more. But overall, I’m proud of the performance.”

Coach Manqoba Mabuza expressed his excitement after the match, “We rushed things in the first half and made unnecessary mistakes. The boys were nervous and didn’t pass the ball effectively.

“In the second half, we adjusted. I told them to play freely; if we lose, we lose as a team.”

Mabuza added that with a stronger first half, they could have scored even more.

“Above all, I’m just happy we won the game,” he said.
