The Premier League has explained why Manchester United were not awarded a penalty in their 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Friday night.
Referee, Stuart Attwell has pointed to the spot after Matheus Cunha was fouled in the area.
Bruno Fernandes stepped up to give United a 1-0 lead, before Ryan Christie equalized for the hosts, after Amad Diallo had been tripped in the area, but Attwell waved play on.
The Red Devils restored their lead through James Hill’s own goal
Bournemouth were levelled from the spot after Harry Maguire was shown a straight red for a similar foul.
On why Diallo was not awarded a penalty, the Premier League Match Centre wrote on X: “The referee’s call of no penalty for a challenge by Truffert was checked and confirmed by VAR – with it deemed the contact was not sufficient for a foul.”
