A tragedy in Diourbel continues to arouse emotion and indignation. According to Source A, a newborn child died in the Heinrich Lübke Regional Hospital in Diourbel, in circumstances that some have described as “presumed medical negligence”. According to the newspaper, the events occurred last Friday. The mother of the baby, Astou Ndiaye, had gone to the Diourbel health district to give birth. The medical staff, after consultation, advised him to go immediately to the regional hospital due to complications. However, according to Source A, the woman would not have been admitted at the time to the maternity service. Le journal reports that she would have been refoulé à l’entrée by a midwife, which would have led to the tragic loss of the newborn, born on the public road, under the impuissant gaze of passers-by. Contacted by Source A, the director of the Regional Hospital of Diourbel, Dr. Bocar Sow, in response to the accusations.
