​Propos haineux et dérives: the National Commission for Human Rights warns of the risks of destabilisation 

  The National Human Rights Commission of Senegal (CNDH) is alarmed by the proliferation of hate speech, verbal deviations and extremist behaviours that threaten social cohesion and coexistence in the country. In a communiqué, the institution headed by Amsatou Sow Sidibé expressed “its concern” at the deteriorating socio-political atmosphere, estimating that it could, if it continued, fragile and destabilize Senegal for a long time. “Attached to the values of peace, respect for human dignity and the principles of the rule of law, the CNDH launches a solemn appeal to the scrupulous respect of the institutions of the Republic and of persons, whatever else their opinions, affiliations or functions”, can be read in the declaration. The national body calls on all actors, citizens, political leaders, opinion leaders, civil society organisations and institutions to demonstrate individual and collective responsibility, in a common effort to: preserve the stability of the country; guarantee a climate favourable to democratic expression; protect justice and human rights; and support The European Union is committed to a sustainable development.
